About us

Global Football Projects

was born out of the obvious need for our organisation to provide a full holistic footballing service that caters to every need of a young players footballing journey. The success of our premium brand Global Soccer Schools International, formerly known as Supersport United Soccer Schools, has prompted us to think more expansively in our quest of developing young football players. Our globally proven coaching program will stand at the heart of what Global Football Projects aims to achieve. We epitomize high performance by making use of a strong ethos, proven training methods, a strong network, skilled individuals, excellent support structures and creating memorable footballing experiences for kids of all ages, here in South Africa, Africa and around the world

Soccer Schools

We are a world class team of people and a network of Soccer Schools passionately contributing to raising the standard for our youth in the game of football. Young players involved with the Soccer Schools are the most important people in our work. It is our aim to help each of them fulfil their potential, whether that be to play league/non-league football, 5-a-side with friends, weekend club, SuperSport United Junior Academy, the Premier League or to play in a World Cup Final. We offer the very best advice and training as we work to create complete footballers.

Quite simply our aim is to change the way that football is both coached and played, we desire that the game becomes more skillful, entertaining and enjoyable both to play and watch. To do this we have to change the way that the game is coached and taught to children. We believe we have made a good start in doing this already with the introduction of the game of Futebol de Salao (FDS), the Skills Badge Challenge and our Soccer Schools coaching program, and syllabus.

What do we do?

Our Soccer Schools exists to give children from 3-16 years of age the best start in football. All players start at our Soccer Schools and work on their technique and ball skills, spending two-thirds of their time working with FDS and one-third with conventional football. Work with the conventional ball increases as the children get older.

The training ethos at our Soccer Schools very much mirrors that of Brazil in that young players are encouraged to spend as much time as possible with the ball developing their skills. Young players spend the majority of their time working individually with the ball with a graded progression as they get older through paired work, group work and onto team play, all maintaining the core Soccer Schools principle of working with the ball. Outdoor/Indoor training sessions at our Soccer Schools are very fast and normally incorporate the use of music to maintain an exciting, progressive and enjoyable atmosphere.

We encourage our players to spend as much time as possible working with the ball, improving technical skills, far more than is the case with most training at Football clubs. Our young players often train with us for 10-20 hours per week as well as the work they do on their own. This may sound like a lot of time, but players are not in any danger of over-training or injury as the work is fun and focuses on the player and the ball. Three very important ingredients that contribute to our success are a high level of seriousness, a high on task time and a high level of discipline.
